Darn good dog!

Duke is such a good dog! His foster family just loves having him around. :)

Duke sits right down when his foster Mom tells him to.

Duke perks his hears up and tilts his head while you talk to him. Dad was talking to him, while Mom took his picture here. He's such a good listener!

Duke loves to swim and he's so good off-leash that we are able to take him to every park we want to!

Duke is perfect in his crate. He treats it like a dog bed and just cozies up in there whenever he wants to rest. :)

Look at those big brown eyes!

Hill Country Adventure!

This weekend Duke got to go on a big adventure with his foster family! We all went out to a cabin in the Hill Country where all the pups got to run around free for 2 whole days!!

Duke and his Labrador foster sister are pretty much best friends so they decided to explore the ranch together.

Sometimes Duke's GSP foster brother joined in the pack and everybody ran around together chasing small critters and doing their best to catch'em!

We weren't as much fun to chase as small critters, but when we went out on the 4-wheeler Duke thought it was fun to try to be the leader. I thought he did a pretty good job!

When it was time to calm down at night Duke was very happy to snuggle in on the dog bed that we brought him. I didn't get any pictures of it, but my 1 year old niece thought it was great fun to crawl all over Duke while he was laying on his dog bed. She laid on him, pulled his tail, and pet him - all of which Duke loved! He is such a sweet boy and he's so good with kids! :)

Needless to say, Duke slept well in the car on the ride home!

Duke's first trip to the dog park

Duke went with his foster Mom, Dad, and Labrador sister to the dog park this weekend. He loved getting to run around and meet lots of other 4-leggers at the park and he did so well coming back when we called him! He got to go for a 3 mile hike on an off-leash trail and he had a ball the whole time!

Duke was so excited to go to the park and rode in the car perfectly!

He loves running around with his Labrador sister and chasing her into the water.

He is so happy to come running back to his foster parents whenever they call him.

He is thrilled to run free in a big field of grass taking in all the sights and smells!

And he loves running around with all the other dogs and people at the park! (Just a note - the people that Duke runs up to in this video are total strangers. He just loves everybody!)

Duke was such a good boy at the park!

Meet Duke!

Duke is a very outgoing, friendly gentleman. He is about 6 years old and is a handsome German Wirehaired Pointer. Duke absolutely loves people of all ages. He has excellent manners when meeting others and will jump up in the air for joy, but does not jump on people! Duke is great with kids. He is sweet and gentle with the little ones, but has lots of spunk and is ready to play if you are! Duke loves to fetch, wrestle, cuddle, and watch everything you do. He loves going for a walk or a jog and he is great on-leash or off-leash. Duke loves people, but he is also great with his Labrador foster sister and his German Shorthaired Pointer foster brother. He loves to run and play with other dogs when they are fiesty, or he's happy to curl up and snuggle in for a nap with his 4-legged friends as well. Duke is great at the dog park and gets along well with every dog his foster Mom has ever seen him meet.

Duke loves to be in the house with his people and knows all the rules of how to be an excellent house-dog. He doesn't chew on things, get in the trash, or get on the counters and he is 100% house-trained. He behaves perfectly in a crate, but he also behaves so well in the house that he rarely needs to be crated.

Duke loves to please and is eager to learn any trick you want to teach him. He sits well on command, comes when called and he knows to sit and wait for permission before he starts his dinner.

Duke was treated for heartworms at the end of January, but his treatment is complete and he is back to living the active, fun-loving lifestyle that he deserves. He will need to be retested in 6 months and should be testing negative at that time.
